Goodbye Summer

As summer is coming to an end, it is time to get ready for Fall. I am not a Fall person. The rain, grey skies, more rain... I don't like it one bit! But one of the things i do like about Fall, are the colors.( and hot cocoa!) My mom who lives on the 13th floor has the most beautiful view and you can really see the change of the leaf colors.

I was inspired for this layout to use lot's of fall colors and leaves. I made some myself using Vaessen Creative dies as a stencil with distress ink. I really like the combination of the stitching and the kraft with a pop of gold color.

Last month i got my first publication in Australia. I am so super excited! It is wonderful to see your own work in a beautiful scrapbook magazine. I have been working for scrapbook magazines for 12 years worldwide now, but it still excites me everytime i receive them in the mail.

Scrapbooking Memories has published one of my favorite scrapbook layouts about my boys.

The colors are typically me when it comes to creating a boys layout. It is probably not a typical color scheme when you think of boy colors, but it works for me. The funny thing is, that a big part of their wardrobe includes these colors. I love mint, light denim and mustard yellow for boys, so pretty!

School has officially started again and my boys look bigger than ever! One 7th grader and one in highschool. How did this happen so quickly?!

I am happy to see that they are really motivated for school and eager to learn new things.

So on the first day of school, i decided to switch around a few things in my studio. And while i was doing that, there was a basket that kept bothering me. It was an old Hema basket that i bought years ago for my thickers. The basket was not white anymore but it turned into a light beige color. Not pretty! So i did a quick make over with the Edding acrylic spray paint in pastel pink. One of the most beautiful pinks i have ever seen! I love how it turned out and how well it matches my Crate Paper storage holder.

Lastly i will end this post with a colorful Summer scrapbook layout. I am going to miss you summer! Counting the days till your return ;) Happy Scrapping!

New pubs!

Yay! Today is my birthday. And what better way to start the day than showing you something exciting? I have a few publications i am really proud of that i wanted to share with you.

First of all is the new Cards and Scrap magazine that has just hit the stores. It was my first time getting published in the magazine and i am very pleased. I have five different projects in the magazine, including theme's like baby, boys and Disney.

Second is an interview i did with the French magazine Esprit Scrap. I have been published in this magazine before, but i was so excited when they asked me for an interview. I think it looks great, and i love how they used several shots from my studio.

I was also published again in JOT magazine. This is my favorite online magazine because there is so much inspiration in there. Check out this amazing free magazine.

I made a few layout's for Vaessen-Creative using the new Kaisercraft and Crate Paper. How amazing are these colors? I love working with Vaessen-Creative, they know exactly how to boost my mojo. I mean pastels and summer prints? Yes please!

I will end this post with a shot of my clean studio. It doesn't look like this very often, since i am alway's in the middle of some projects. So the rare occasion asked for a photo, just so i can remind myself later to clean up ha!Of to celebrate my birthday and eat some cake! Have a great day xoxo

Ben jij ook helemaal fan van Mixed Media, Scrapbooking en Project Life? En lijkt het je leuk om nieuwe technieken te leren? Kom dan gezellig langs in mijn studio in Tilburg!

Materiaalkosten voor de workshops zijn 23,50 euro en is inclusief alle benodigheden die wij gebruiken tijdens deze workshop. De Sunday Crop is 19.95 inclusief High Tea lunch.

Dus geen gesleep met het openbaar vervoer want in de studio is alles aanwezig! Kwasten, lijm, scharen, verf, de Fuse, de Minc...Noem het maar op of het is er!

Alle workshops zijn van 12.30 tot 16.30, tenzij anders aangegeven.

In elke workshop zitten verschillende technieken verwerkt waardoor je unieke pagina's zult meenemen naar huis. Dol op flapjes, fusen en dingen uitsnijden? Of altijd al willen leren hoe je dit moet doen? Ik laat het je graag zien! Alle workshops zijn geschikt voor beginners en gevorderden. Iedereen krijgt genoeg uitleg en aandacht om de technieken goed onder de knie te krijgen.

Project Life “Life in Color”
Ben jij helemaal weg van felle kleuren? Dan is dit de workshop voor jou! Ik ben uit mijn comfort zone gestapt van pastel kleuren en aan de slag gehad met spetterende kleuren. Tijdens deze workshop maken wij een dubbele pagina op 12x12 formaat. Voor deze workshop adviseer ik zwart wit foto’s, deze zijn makkelijker te combineren met veel kleur.

12x12 “Quilt it!”
Ik vind Quilts altijd zo inspirerend en mooi om naar te kijken. Maar een echte “papier lover” wilt dit natuurlijk verwerken met papier. Wij gaan tijdens deze workshop quilten met papier en gebruiken je mooiste foto om een 12x12 layout te maken die je zo aan de muur wilt hangen.

Project Life “Cluster Crazy”
Hoe kleed je die leuke Project Life pagina’s nou precies aan? Ik ben dol op layering en het aankleden van mijn pagina’s. Tijdens deze workshop laat ik op mijn manier zien hoe je het meeste kunt halen uit je papier, ponsen en embellishments. Door het maken van laagjes en groepjes embellishments gaan wij onze Project Life pagina’s aankleden tot een mooi geheel.

Travel Notebook “with a twist”
De originele Travel Notebooks waren eigenlijk bedoeld om een mooi reisverslag in te maken tijdens een zakenreis of vakantie. Maar wij gaan de travel notebook gebruiken voor onze dagelijkse reis! Maak een verslag van je leukste dagelijkse momenten, je kindje zijn eerste verjaardag of een traject wat je graag wilt bijhouden met foto’s. Tijdens deze workshop gaan wij verschillende scrapbook pagina’s maken in een TN boekje. Wij zullen gebruik maken van pockets en flapjes om onze TN pagina’s net wat extra’s te geven. Ook maken wij een pocket insert voor het bewaren van je extra foro’s en tickets. Voor deze workshop raad ik kleine fototjes aan op 7.5x10 cm of 5x5 cm.

Project Life “Give it a title”
Titels maken je pagina’s altijd af vind ik. Het zegt iets over het onderwerp en is onderdeel van het verhaal wat je wilt vastleggen. Maar tijdens deze workshops nemen we het maken van titels naar een hoger level. Door het combineren van lettertypes en het werken in lagen maken wij unieke titels door het gebruik van stempels en stickers. Uiteindelijk ga je naar huis met een dubbele 12x12 pagina en een dosis inspiratie voor het maken van je eigen titels.

Project Life Embellish it 3&4!
Na het succes van Embellish it 1&2 zijn wij nu aangekomen bij deel 3 van deze workshop serie. Iedereen kan natuurlijk een pakje embellishments kopen, maar het is toch veel leuker om je eigen embellishments te maken? Tijdens deze workshop gaan wij aan de slag met stempels, canvas, vellum, kurk en acetate om onze eigen embellishments te maken voor Project Life. Na afloop ga je naar huis met een dubbele 12x12 PL pagina en een hoop ideeën.
“Not your average planner”
Een agenda moet natuurlijk praktisch zijn, maar ze zijn zoveel leuker als ze mooi zijn versierd. Tijdens deze workshop gaan we onze planners versieren met multipocket dividers, uitklapbare flapjes/boekjes en embellishments. Ook zullen wij een planner charm maken als een echt pronkstuk voor aan je planner. Wil je ook foto’s verwerken in je planner? Neem dan kleine fototjes mee van 7.5x10 of 5x5 cm.

Project Life “Stamp It!”
Heb jij ook zoveel stempels, maar gebruik je ze veel te weinig? Dan is dit de workshop voor jou! Leer verschillende leuke techniekjes om te gebruiken in je Project Life album. Denk aan stempelen in kleuroverloop, layering en je eigen patroontjes maken. Na afloop ga je naar huis met een dubbele PL pagina en een berg inspiratie.

Project Life “Pockets and Keepsakes”
Deze workshop staat op mijn lijf geschreven. Ik ben dol op pockets, flapjes en labels verwerken in mijn Project Life album. Het maakt pagina’s interactief en interessant en laat sommige details eruit springen. Heb jij nog zand liggen van een vakantie, of heb je de haartjes bewaard van het eerste kappers bezoek van je kindje? Tijdens deze workshop maak je een dubbele 12x12 pagina waar je al jouw schatten in kunt verweken.

Art Journal/12x12 “Messy with paint”
Heerlijk toch, lekker kliederen met verf? De mogelijkheden met dit medium zijn echt eindeloos! Wij gaan tijdens deze workshop focussen op eigen achtergronden/patronen maken voor je Art Journal of 12x12 layout. Met het gebruik van felle kleuren verf in combinatie met stencils, markers en stempels zullen wij achtergronden maken die mooi genoeg zijn om in te lijsten! Tijdens deze workshop zullen wij ook gebruik maken van de Gelliplate, mijn favoriete verf gereedschap!

Project Life “Fuse it”
De Fuse is en blijft mijn favoriete tool! Niet alleen handig voor het indelen van je eigen hoezen, maar ook ideaal voor het vastmaken van losse pockets en het maken van leuke shakerzakjes. Ligt de Fuse nog steeds ongebruikt bij jou in de kast? Na deze workshop zal de Fuse ook jou favoriete tool zijn! Tijdens deze workshop maken wij een dubbele 12x12 pagina met het gebruik van de Fuse tool. Je leert verschillende technieken en kunt genoeg ideeën opdoen voor het maken van je eigen PL pagina’s, pockets en kadotjes.

Travel Notebook “Mixed Media”
Tijdens deze workshop gaan wij met verschillende mediums aan de slag in onze travel notebook. Structuurpasta, watercolor, verf en gelatos worden allemaal gebruikt tijdens deze workshop om onze scrapbook pagina’s een artistiek uiterlijk te geven. Je leert verschillende technieken die je keer op keer kunt toepassen in je Travel Notebook, Art Journal of Project Life pagina’s.

Project Life “DIY cards”
Do it yourself is natuurlijk altijd het leukste. Daarom gaan wij tijdens deze workshop aan de slag met verschillende materialen en gereedschappen voor het maken van onze eigen Project Life kaartjes. Maak je eigen patronen, titels en opengewerkte kaartjes voor je dubbele 12x12 pagina’s die wij tijdens deze workshop maken. Je gaat met genoeg ideeën naar huis voor het maken van je eigen kaartjes en het versieren van de bestaande kaartjes in je collectie.

Project Life “Beginners”
Deze workshop is speciaal voor mensen die alles hebben liggen voor Project Life, maar net even een duwtje in de rug nodig hebben. Tijdens deze workshop help ik je met het leren van de basis voor Project Life. Hoe begin je, hoeveel foto’s en welke formaten en welke indelingen zijn er en heb je nodig. Ook geef ik wat tips op het gebied van fotografie en het bestellen van foto’s voor Project Life. Stap voor stap werken wij aan een dubbele 12x12 pagina, met genoeg hulp voor het maken van je eerste pagina’s.

Project Life “Next level”
Deze workshop is speciaal voor iedereen die het principe van Project Life al kent, maar zijn pagina’s toch nog wat extra’s wilt geven. Opengewerkte kaartjes, stempelen in lagen en het werken met acetate komen allemaal aan bod. Ook zullen wij de Fuse gebruiken op een gevorderd niveau. Dus wil je een berg aan inspiratie voor next level technieken op Project Life gebied? Dan is dit de workshop voor jou! Na afloop ga je naar huis met een dubbele 12x12 pagina.

12x12 “Layer it!”
Scrapbooking op 12x12 is en blijft mijn grote liefde. Al 12 jaar maak ik met veel plezier layout’s op dit formaat. De techniek voor het gebruik van laagjes op mijn pagina’s heb ik daardoor goed onder de knie. Tijdens deze workshop laat ik je zien hoe je door het gebruik van hoogteverschil en diverse materialen layout’s maakt in lagen. En hoe jouw foto’s het aandachtspunt blijven op een versierde pagina. Een workshop met technieken die in verschillende hobbies kunnen worden toegepast.

New Designer for Vaessen Creative.

I am very excited to announce, that i am the new Scrapbook and Mixed Media designer for Vaessen-Creative.

My work can be seen on their social media, website and Craft events. I will be making step by step tutorials on the blog and demonstrate Vaessen-Creative products. I am very excited to be working with this great company!

Spring is here!

Everyone who knows me, knows that i love Spring. I am a person who is longing for Spring, all Winter long. I am waiting for that day, where i wake up and see the sun entering my bedroom. We already had a few of those days, and hoping for a few more next week.

I have been super busy! A new job as a designer has been very exciting. More info about that soon!

I used to be an 12x12 layouts girl only (still my favorite!), but i have been doing a lot of Pocket Pages recently. I like the idea of using lot's of photos on one page. And eventhough i already used several photos on one layout, Pocket Pages is different. It's like every pocket is a mini layout haha It can be hard to make everything work together. I am an overthinker and critic on my own work, so everything needs to match "perfectly".

I recently teached a class at the Scrapheap with Faber Castell Gelatos. We had an amazing day with 17 attendants. It was amazing!

I had my work published in Jot magazine. I love this magazine! So much inspiration ♡

I have been busy organizing my studio. It is my second hobby next to Scrapbooking. I love searching for ways to make things more practical and pretty.

The wrapping station is from Hema and unfortunately not available anymore. The box for my washi tape is from Ikea called Tjena. The little wirebaskets for my rollerstamps are from a store called Action, but there are many of these baskets available at the moment. I was in search of something to store my punchboards. So i ordered a kitchen rack that is intended to hold your frying pans. It is perfect to store in the Ikea Raskog rollingcart and it holds my punchboards and guillotine's perfectly.

I teached this travel Pocket Page workshop using the Fuse. I love all these little Vintage pockets we made, using labels and small tokens. These are not colors i use very often, but they did match my photos from the Antique fair in Lille. I especially like the little mini booklet we made for one of the pockets. It holds several little photos.

These pastel colors are my favorite, and when you ask someone my style, they will probably tell you it includes mint pink and gold ha! But come on...Look at these pretty colors, what is not to love? And i used my favorite Fuse tool, it's a win win.

I was very excited to see that WRMK posted my little Fuse label on their Facebook. Totally made my day!

I will be back soon with a few projects i made. The kids are having a Spring Break, so i am spending time with them going to the movie, Harry Potter marathon at home, celebrating birthdays and we are probably going swimming on Monday. Julian had been begging for months now. I cannot believe he is turning twelve this Monday!!

Something different

People often recognize my work by the beautiful pastel colors. I have this huge addiction to anything blush or mint colored with a hint of gold. If i see it...i need to have it haha But these photos of my boys just screamed Urban and cool to me. So i went for a different color scheme and made something different. These colors are actually my favorite boy colors! My mom always makes fun of my boy layouts and clothes... I tend to go for denim, mustard and mint. Love this combo!

It's been a while since i played with paint and created a mixed media piece. This canvas is called writings on the wall. I played with texture paste, stencils and lot's of color. I wasn't too sure how i felt about this piece at first, but i like it now. It suits me :)

I am also working on some Faber Castell gelatos projects, these little crayons are amazing! Have you ever tried working with gelatos? They are so fun and easy! To be continued...

I had 4 ladies visiting me who wanted to work with the Fuse tool. They were such natural talents! We had a fun afternoon creating a few projects with this tool. I was told that they don't scrapbook so we created a few cards.

I have been drawing in my Jolie journal with my Schneider pens. They are so easy to work with! I love the triangle shape that fits nicely between your fingers. The colors are so pretty and i am happy they are not all brights.

I know the Pokemon Go game was a huge Summer hype, but we are still loving it over here. This game has giving us a lot of outside playtime. I often forget, but my new goal is to take lot's of Pokemon Go photos and create a mini album with them. I am not very into mini albums, but this just calls for a fun mini using these precious photos. I am thinking about creating a set of my own Project Life cards for this. Should be fun!
